Welcome To The Middle Tennessee MRC

Welcome to the website of the Middle Tennessee Medical Reserve Corps (MTMRC). The MTMRC is a volunteer organization housed in the National Center For Emergency Preparedness (NCEP) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). The Medical Reserve Corps is an important component of the Citizen Corps program and was developed following the tragic events of September 11. The MTMRC is one of almost 667 MRC's that are currently serving their communities across America.

The MTMRC participates with other community organizations in response to local emergency situations and helps train healthcare providers and other volunteers to better respond to the needs of the community in both emergency and non-emergency situations. We are developing programs to increase surge capacity capability for the community via the use of volunteer healthcare providers. The MTMRC helps create an environment in which the skills of volunteers can be matched to the needs of the community and fosters a culture of community awareness among members of the Middle Tennessee healthcare community.
